Ixlium <\/p>\n

Ixlium is an island. Those who visit feel compelled to search, but what they are looking for or why remains unknown to them. If they find it, they may leave.
\n\uff0dKim Laughton<\/p>\n

A computer-controlled human wanders across various virtual environments, struggling against hunger and fatigue. The character must find and interact with objects in the world, and if successful, progress can be made. If the character is unable to find sustenance, they die and are replaced by a new randomly generated human.
\nArtifacts from the virtual world, such as seeds, statues, and the wandering characters, are replicated physically in the gallery alongside printed images by Wang Newone. The simulation features music by Mechatok.<\/p>\n

PROFILE
\nKim Laughton is originally from the UK but has spent the last decade in Shanghai and relocated to Tokyo at the end of 2022. Focusing in digitally originated work, especially real CG using game engines, he has created work for museums and galleries including X MUSEUM, Carnegie Museum of Art, PPPP gallery, and worked with record labels and musicians (including PC Music, Fade to Mind, Hyperdub). In addition to video works, heproduces three-dimensional works using 3D printing, 3D interior design, and apparel production. While announcing his own CG designs firstly on Tumblr, he also operates \u201cTaobao Media\u201d, which introduces extreme product advertisements posted on Chinese online shopping sites. <\/p>\n

\nShe began publishing her work using the virtual identity\u201cWangNewOne\u201d through Tumblr in 2014. Her work was all produced in 3D and included 3D portraits and environments, and the exhibition format is mainly video installations and physical works. Since the end of 2015, she has partici-
\npated in the art exhibitions around China and collaborated with brands such as Huawei and I.T. Since 2017, she started the label \u201cLURE \/ \u9975,\u201d where she expands her series of work including clothing and party promotions.
\nIn “Ixillium”, original drawings inspired by simulation are exhibited.
\nShe grasps the images of simulation where the same character never re-generated, and difficult to recognize the individuality.<\/p>\n
