Kim Laughton (キム・ロートン）は英国出身のデジタルアーティスト。上海で13年間を過ごしたのち、2022年に東京へ活動拠点を移す。デジタルアートの中でも特にゲーム エンジンを使用したリアル CG に焦点を当て、北京X MUSEUMや、米カーネギー博物館などに作品を出展。 映像作品の他、3Dプリントを使った立体作品やインテリアデザイン、アパレル制作など幅広く作品を制作する。Tumblrを原点に、ネット上で自身のCGデザインを発表する傍ら、中国のショッピングサイトに掲載された過激な出品広告を紹介する「Taobao Media」を運営。新鮮さへの欲望でうごめく大量消費社会を題材にした作風は、同時多発的にネット上の様々なメディアで拡散され、カルト的な関心を集める。また猛スピードで発展を遂げた上海のクラブシーンにおいて、先駆けのVJ（音楽に合わせて映像を流すアーティスト）としていち早く活躍。音楽レーベル（Hyperdub, PC Music, Fade to Mind）や、アーティストmechatokとの共同制作など、視覚と聴覚の双方から芸術世界を拡張する。

Kim Laughton is originally from the UK but has spent the last decade in Shanghai and relocated to Tokyo at the end of 2022. Focusing in digitally originated work, especially real CG using game engines, he has created work for museums and galleries including X MUSEUM, Carnegie Museum of Art, PPPP gallery, and worked with record labels and musicians (including PC Music, Fade to Mind, Hyperdub). In addition to video works, he produces three-dimensional works using 3D printing, interior design, and apparel production. Firstly emerged on Tumblr, while announcing his own CG designs, he also operates “Taobao Media”, which introduces extreme product advertisements posted on Chinese online shopping sites.
